Buy PS5: where to find consoles in April 2021 The current status

Buy PS5

Are you one of those unlucky gamers who still couldn't buy a PS5? You are not alone. We remember the queue in the Euronics shop at the end of February, when almost 130,000 people were hoping for the chance to load the new Sony console into the virtual shopping cart ...

How many devices were actually available, we do not know. Contingents of available PS5s have been in the three-digit range since the beginning of the year. The probability of getting a console in the normal way, unless you scan the usual shops, is therefore still low. Various websites have now started a live blog to inform desperate PS5 fans about current availability.

Sony was surprised by the demand for the PS5, it said a few weeks ago. Well, we can't think of anything anymore. More and more fraudsters are trying to get the money out of desperate buyers. And the fake pages are becoming more and more professional. After the announcement that Sony wants to sell PS5 consoles in the future, a website in particular attracted potential buyers. It is playstation-sony.XX (we do not include a direct link) but not an official Sony site! In general, please be careful: If an offer is too good to be true, then it is usually too.

Unfortunately, we can't help you, even in our editorial team there is still People without a Playstation 5. Perhaps the bot can help you as it searches German retailers for new PS5 availabilities. Or you can follow various Twitter accounts that draw attention to new offers. Until then, you only have a look at the popular shops and a quick mouse finger to forestall the scalpers.

Where to buy a PS5: Here's what you need to know to find a PlayStation5

Still having trouble finding a PS5? You're not alone. Now the fastest-selling console in US history, Sony is still having trouble making enough to meet an enormous demand -- just like how Microsoft is struggling to do the same with its Xbox Series X|S. Major retailers including Amazon, Best Buy, GameStop, Target and Walmart can't keep the consoles in stock -- and their limited supply has left many customers frustrated and empty handed.

As of April 6, no major retailer has the PS5 in stock. Despite occasional PS5 inventory drops at various stores, the gaming console remains sold out in both of its configurations: the $500 model with Blu-ray and the cheaper $400 digital-only edition with no optical drive. You can get a PlayStation 5 or PS5 bundle at a reseller like eBay or StockX If you're willing to pay far above the sticker price. But we advise you to wait.

In a few more months, we expect PS5 supply to increase, and then you might regret having spent $1,000 or more instead of waiting it out. For the latest updates on when retailers might have inventory drops and offer the gaming console for sale online, be sure to check back here frequently.

You can monitor where the PS5 is available on your own; Twitter, for example, is a good source of restock rumors. But we occasionally get word directly from retailers and tipsters about upcoming PlayStation 5 console inventory restocks, and we update this post immediately. Again, be aware: It likely will be months before anything approximating normal inventory levels appears in stores, so getting your own PS5 is likely to be a challenge until summer, at the earliest. Below you'll find a list of all the major retailers (and a few high-profile resellers) where you can monitor stock and availability.

More on next-gen consolesPS5 restock options at major retailers

You can check out Amazon's page for the $400 Digital Edition via the button below, or, if you'd rather, get in line for the PS5 with Blu-ray for $500.

When in stock, Target offers the PS5 with Blu-ray for $500, in addition to the PS5 Digital Edition, which you can find by clicking the button below.

You can check on availability of the $400 Digital Edition at Walmart by clicking the button below, or you can try to snag the pricier PS5 with Blu-ray for $500.

When in stock, Best Buy offers the PS5 with Blu-ray for $500 along with the $400 Digital Edition (which you can find by clicking the button below). The retailer is also offering a slew of accessories on its PS5 landing page.

We don't recommend spending more than retail to get a PS5, but if you must have a console right now, eBay is your shortcut to getting a console. That said, expect to pay hundreds over list; the average PS5 price on eBay is about $800.

If you've exhausted all of the usual retail options and you're willing to pay hundreds over list price, you might want to check out StockX, an eBay alternative that made its name in the secondary market for sneakers and designer clothing. Last time we checked, prices for the PS5 were hovering just below $650. We don't think it's worth it, but let your conscience (and your wallet) be your guide).
