Borderlands movie

The cast list for the film adaptation of Borderlands is getting longer and longer. Hollywood greats like Cate Blanchett (Lilith), Jamie Lee Curtis (Dr. Patricia Tanis), Kevin Hart (Roland) and Jack Black (Claptrap) have already been confirmed. Edgar Ramirez (Atlas), Haley Bennett (unknown), Olivier Richters (Krom), Ariana Greenblatt (Tiny Tina) and Florian Munteanu (Krieg) will also be seen in other roles. Battlefront 2 star Janina Gavankar joins this illustrious list. The American actress is known to game fans for her role as Iden Versio in the Star Wars: Battlefront 2 campaign. She also starred in True Blood, Detective Laura Diamond and Sleepy Hollow.

In the Borderlands film adaptation, Gavankar will slip into the role of Commander Knoxx. A character newly created for the film, but whose name should still sound familiar to players. In a DLC of the first Borderlands everything revolves around a certain General Knoxx, the father of the character played by Gavankar. Just like her dad, daughter Knoxx joins the Crimson Lance, the private arms of Atlas Corporation. "She is, in a word, badass," writes Gearbox boss Randy Pitchford about the role on his Twitter channel.

Lilith (Blanchett), an infamous outlaw with a mysterious past, reluctantly returns to her home planet of Pandora to find the missing daughter of the universe’s most powerful S.O.B., Atlas (Ramirez). Lilith forms an alliance with an unexpected team – Roland (Hart), a former elite mercenary, now desperate for redemption; Tiny Tina (Greenblatt), a feral pre-teen demolitionist; Krieg (Munteanu), Tina’s musclebound, rhetorically challenged protector; Tannis (Curtis), the scientist with a tenuous grip on sanity; and Claptrap (Black), a persistently wiseass robot. These unlikely heroes must battle alien monsters and dangerous bandits to find and protect the missing girl, who may hold the key to unimaginable power. The fate of the universe could be in their hands – but they’ll be fighting for something more: each other.
