Twitter user InstLatX64 has discovered the mysterious AMD 4700S processor, which is expected to be part of the AMD 4700S desktop kit. It is plausible that the latter is the same that Microsoft used to develop one of its Xbox consoles. While not officially a member of the Ryzen family, it is conceivable that the AMD 4700S has a lot in common with the Ryzen 4000 (codenamed Renoir) mobile APUs. If so, the chip would have to use Zen 2 cores, which means it could be an engineering sample of the processor behind an Xbox Series X or Series S.Xbox Series X and Series S use an AMD APU Custom octa-core Zen 2 that has no official name. The one within Series X has a frequency of 3.8GHz, which however drops to 3.6GHz with SMT active, while the variant for the Series S has a clock of 3.6GHz that drops to 3.4GHz with SMT. On March 29, a score obtained with the AMD 4700S on Geekbench 5 was recorded (as indicated by Leakbench). According to the data collected by the software, the processor has eight cores, sixteen threads, 8MB of L3 cache, a base clock of 3.6GHz and a boost clock of 4GHz. The tested system also had 16GB of RAM.
As for the results, the AMD 4700S scored 998 points and 8,589 points in the single-core and multi-core benchmarks, respectively. For comparison, the Ryzen 9 4900HS, which is the flagship model of the Ryzen 4000 range, averaged 1,083 points in the single-core test and 6,994 points in the multi-core test. In practice, while Ryzen 9 4900HS offers up to 8.5% single-core performance, the AMD 4700S manages to achieve up to 22.8% higher performance in the multi-core environment.
What's even stranger is that AMD recently released the corresponding firmware and drivers for the AMD 4700S desktop kit. Drivers are provided for the chipset, integrated audio and Ethernet port. By analyzing the firmware, you can find references to Cardinal, which may be the internal codename used for this particular desktop kit. The files are dated April 19th, so they are very up to date.
Developer kits are not generally available to the general public. However, Finnish retailer Tulostintavaratalo has listed the AMD 4700S desktop kit in its online store for € 325 with an estimated delivery time ranging from 14 to 30 working days.
Ryzen 5 5600X, CPU very balanced and with very satisfactory gaming performance, it is currently available on Amazon.

Meanwhile, the Zacks Consensus Estimate for first-quarter earnings is pegged at 44 cents per share. The figure indicates an improvement of 144.4% on a year-over-year basis.

Increasing demand for AMD's processor chips augurs well for the top line and instills investors’ confidence in the stock. Shares of the company, which carries a Zacks Rank #2 (Buy), have returned 41.8% in the past year compared with the industry’s rally of 72.6%.

Markedly, improving PC shipments’ trend in the first quarter of 2021, driven by increased demand is expected to have favored AMD’s first-quarter performance. Per an IDC report, PC shipments surged 55.2% to 84 million units in the first quarter of calendar year 2021.

In January 2021, at CES 2021, AMD unveiled a new class of mobile processors — AMD Ryzen 5000 Series — based on Zen 3 core architecture.

In the said quarter, AMD’s Data Center GPU sales are likely to have benefited from healthy demand for AMD Instinct MI100 accelerator.
Nevertheless, increasing expenses on product development amid intensifying competition from NVIDIA NVDA and Intel INTC is likely to limit margin expansion in the to-be-reported quarter.
