StarCraft is a seminal work for the RTS genre
StarCraft is a seminal work for the RTS genre: Phil Spencer said it during an interview with Wired in which he addressed various topics, including the future of the famous Blizzard strategic franchise.A few years ago it seemed that Activision Blizzard was no longer interested in StarCraft, but Spencer's words seem to indicate a different situation, a clear awareness of the importance of the series and therefore the intention to relaunch it as it deserves on Microsoft platforms.
"I don't have the power to make decisions about what happens in Blizzard, Activision or King, so let's just talk about reflections on possible opportunities (...), but both StarCraft and WarCraft are of enormous importance when it comes to tradition. RTS and Blizzard in particular, "Spencer explained.
" I don't have any concrete plans at the moment because I don't have a way to work with teams yet, but StarCraft was seminal work for the gami ng, isn't it? Both from the point of view of eSports and from the point of view of RTS on consoles, but also from the point of view of storytelling within the RTS genre. "
" I am thrilled to be able to sit with team of Activision, Blizzard and King to discuss the catalog and the opportunities that may exist, but (...) this is not something I can actively dedicate myself to right now. "
" Thought however to be able to reflect on what will happen with these franchises is really tempting, and I say this as a person who has spent a lot of hours playing these titles. "
