David Weil, creator of the series, has repeatedly explained that the use of Hitler only happened to give a sort of catharsis to the Jewish people and to do justice in a satisfactory way. Also speaking to Entertainment Weekly, David Weil said: “Having grown up as a Jewish boy on Long Island, I have always felt frustration and anger knowing that Hitler was never punished for his crimes. He has never been arrested or killed ”. The first season, consisting of ten episodes, arrived in 2020 on Amazon Prime Video.

Hunters tells a story based on true events and follows several bands of Nazi hunters active in New York in 1977 known as "The Hunters" . The group discovers that hundreds of Nazis were living in the United States and conspiring to create a Fourth Reich. The eclectic team of hunters comes together to hunt down and exterminate as many Nazis as possible. Hunters is produced by Peele's company Monkeypaw Productions and Sonar Entertainment and is created by screenwriter, executive producer and showrunner Weil, together with Toscano.
