Forza Horizon was born from the ashes of Project Gotham Racing

During an interview with GQ about the new Forza Motorsport, Playground Games studio head Trevor Williams talked about how Forza Horizon came to light. The story is decidedly absurd and reveals how in reality the spin-off of the series was born from the ashes of an old Microsoft IP, or Project Gotham Racing, originally developed by Bizarre Creations.

Williams explained how his entire team was located in the United States of America and the idea had been rejected by the two Xbox executives present at the table. “We were in the restaurant and had proposed a Project Gotham Racing reboot, but Hartman and Greenawalt were not interested in the IP. I was thinking about how we were going to make the journey home and after five minutes they asked me what we thought of Forza and where we would take the series. At that moment what we had in the meantime for Project Gotham Racing became Forza Horizon, ”Williams said during the interview. "The game basically started on a napkin," Williams added, probably referring to the idea that he had thrown his first ideas on the new series in a hurry.| ); }
Forza Horizon is certainly one of the most important success series in the world of video games. Playground Games' attempt to revive Project Gotham Racing was probably not done at the right time, but who knows if one day, perhaps even pushed by the public, Microsoft decides to actually restart the series.
