Microsoft updates Windows 11 with support for Android 12L

Microsoft continues to constantly improve its latest operating system, Windows 11, by offering the latest in preview to members of the Windows Insider Program. In particular, in the latest build, as reported by colleagues from Android Police, the Redmond company has brought the Windows Subsystem for Android to release 2204.40000.15.0 (downloadable from Microsoft Store), which now supports Android 12.1 (aka Android 12L) and aims to improve the integration of Android applications with Windows. In addition, software can take advantage of Windows 11's advanced networking features to connect to other devices on the same network.

Other noteworthy improvements Microsoft has offered over time include hardware decoding of VP8 and VP9 video streams, plus a leaner structure of WSA settings and the addition of a diagnostic data viewer, which is quite useful for developers. The camera app also now offers correct previews, adequate feed rendering, and the handling of input devices, such as mouse and keyboard, has also been improved. However, some known issues remain to be resolved, such as camera app instability on ARM devices, some applications not working properly, and a glitch that causes programs to render incorrectly at lower resolutions.

Microsoft has announced that the Android build powering the Windows Subsystem for Android has been updated to Android 12L. This update (version 2204.40000.15.0) is rolling out to Windows Insiders in the Dev Channel. https://t.co/omPprrK1as

In addition to the Windows Subsystem for Windows, Microsoft continues to work tirelessly to add new features to the latest version of its well-known operating system. Last week, we told you, for example, that members of the Insider program have exclusive access to a potentially interesting feature, especially for some users, which allows you to have a web search bar directly on the desktop. In case you are interested, you will find all the details relating to the subject in our previous dedicated news.
