To develop the Corvette Z06

The Corvette Z06 of 2023 introduces, among the numerous innovations, an unprecedented 5.5-liter naturally aspirated V8 LT6 engine with a completely new melody and considerable power. Now, some time after the early stages of development, rumors are leaking about how GM actually designed the engine and what inspired it.

According to what was reported on the net, Chevrolet would have bought the engine of a Ferrai 458 online to study its potential. In an interview with The Drive, Jordan Lee's project leader said that when development began on the Corvette C8 Z06 in 2014, GM engineers were eager to study Ferrari engines closely and see how they worked. However, rather than simply buying a Ferrari, the team looked online for a used engine instead.

"With eBay Poland, we were able to buy an engine from a wrecked car," Lee said. “We've written a check for something like $ 25,000, and we're all pretty happy and thrilled that the engine has actually arrived.”

Expected for the summer of 2022 in America, in version spider and coupé, the Corvette Z06 2023 follows the tradition of the brand giving shape to the first evolution of the C8 Stingray with central engine identified with the initials Z06. The price is unknown, even if on the net it is thought that it could reach 90 thousand dollars.
