Hogwarts Legacy says no to microtransactions

Over the course of yesterday evening, Avalanche Software finally unveiled Hogwarts Legacy. The game, based on the Harry Potter universe, was shown with a long gameplay video. While not having dispelled some doubts about it, including an exact release date, yesterday's live broadcast also proved to be an excellent opportunity to know two more details about the game.

Hogwarts Legacy The first detail, perhaps the most important, concerns the absence of microtransactions in Hogwarts Legacy. As it emerged after the presentation, the game will not include an in-game purchase system. This is excellent news, given that the nature of the game was completely unknown to most before last night and that eliminates any doubts regarding a live service title. Of course, the lack of microtransactions does not necessarily indicate that the game will not be destined to receive expansions or DLCs, but for now the danger of being able to purchase certain bonuses is averted.

Hogwarts Legacy is one of the most anticipated games ever: the reveal of the title took place in 2020, and after a very long silence only from yesterday we know the nature and gameplay of the game. The new game based on the adventures of Harry Potter will arrive during the winter of 2022. While waiting to dress as a wizard (or better, as a student magician), it will be possible to try to free Gotham City from super criminals, thanks to Gotham Knights, which recently got a new release date.

You can pre-order Gotham Knights on Amazon.

Hogwarts Legacy will not feature any microtransactions

You probably saw the massive gameplay blowout for Hogwarts Legacy last night during the State of Play. Needless to say, the footage that was shown has placed a massive amount of expectation for this upcoming title to deliver, on top of various other questions about the finer details of the game popping up.

One question that seems to be a very common one is about how the title will be monetised, if at all, and to directly answer and silence any rumours, community manager for Avalanche, Chandler Wood has stated simply:

'We've seen this question coming up and want to set the record straight.

There are no microtransactions in Hogwarts Legacy.'

So, there you have it, no microtransactions in Hogwarts Legacy. Hurray!
