In Ducati's future there is not electricity

In an interview with the British motorcycle weekly MotorCyclesNews, Ducati's vice president of sales - Francesco Milicia - outlined what the future of the Borgo Panigale house will be, stating that at the moment the company has no plans to build a motorcycle electric, contrary to what one might think.

With this decision, Ducati goes in the diametrically opposite direction to what the market is doing, and affirms that to date electric technology is not yet sufficiently developed to meet the demands of its customers; undoubtedly the main node remains the driving range, which for the moment is limited to just over 200 km in the best cases, to be traveled at city speeds if you do not want to see the battery run out even more quickly.

Judging from Milicia's words, Ducati is not yet ready to believe with conviction in the electric, but you can't ignore it with regard to CO2 emissions: the environmental protocols that impose drastic reductions in emissions apply to everyone, and in one way or another they will have to be respected. For this reason, Ducati seems more interested in joining a project already started by one of the companies that are part of the large Volkswagen group: we are talking about the alternative fuel developed by Porsche, which could also prove very useful for applications in the motorcycle field.

The use of a synthetic fuel made in the laboratory would allow Ducati to comply with the environmental regulations imposed by the European Union, and at the same time to satisfy the large circle of enthusiasts of the brand, which is not yet ready to abandon the roar of the Borgo Panigale engines. Milicia spoke of a project that "we are looking at in the medium term", so it is reasonable to expect that Ducati will bring on the market, or at least officially present, a synthetic fuel motorcycle within 2 or 3 years at the latest.
