Far Cry 2 is ready for 2021: new mod makes it possible!

Far Cry 2 is ready for 2021

The open-world shooter Far Cry 2 was released 13 years ago and during this time the video game medium has developed quite a bit, especially when it comes to graphics. If you start playing games from 15 years ago today, the disappointment with the lumpy graphics, the muddy textures and the absolutely not detailed environment has always been a bitter disappointment. Modder PuppyUnicorn thought that too and gave the dusty game a facelift!

A feast for the eyes!

Far Cry 2 made a mod time travel and landed in 2021! Not good for Far Cry, but good for us as players! Source: Nexusmods.com Since you can expect that Far Cry 6 will be a little longer in coming, the "Far Cry 2 Modernized" mod comes just at the right time. PuppyUnicorn insists on improving the game a little bit. In addition to bug fixes, you also get additional content, upscaled textures and a custom HDR and sharpness-based ReShade. PuppyUnicors Mod is based on the well-known Redux Mod and offers everything it already had, only better!

Even more content!

In addition, other mods have been implemented, for example the colorful weapon icons from the "Detailed and Colorful Weapons Icon" mod, the upscaled AI textures from the "Enhanced Texture Pack" mod and the "Acutal Syrette Icon" "-Mod. The whole package is rounded off by Daniel Pistelli's 4 GB exe patcher, which means that the 32-bit version of FarCry2.exe uses 4 GB of RAM instead of 2 GB.

'Far Cry 6' Release Date, Trailer, Gameplay Video Launch Leaked Online

KEY POINTS
  • 'Far Cry 6' was originally set to be released on Feb. 18
  • The game's release was delayed
  • Ubisoft said it could arrive later than April 2021 but not later than March 2022
  • A Ubisoft roadmap has recently surfaced online, revealing the release dates of some of the studio's highly-awaited titles, including 'Far Cry 6.'

A sketchy Ubisoft roadmap outline for the next couple of years was earlier posted on Reddit by someone who claims to be an intern of the gaming studio. The Reddit post was removed by moderators due to a lack of supporting facts and evidence to back their claims, but Twitter user IdleSloth managed to screen capture it.

According to the sketchy Ubisoft roadmap, the gaming studio would release the gameplay video of 'Far Cry 6' for E3 2021 anytime from June 12-15. The leak also claimed that the much-awaited game sequel would be released on June 25. It also indicated that the highly-awaited pirate game 'Skull & Bones' would be released sometime in the Fall or Autumn of this year.

According to the leak, 'Riders Republic,' a sports game also in development under Ubsifot, would come out on July 16, 2021, while Tom Clancy's 'Rainbow Six Quarantine' would be released on December 10, 2021. Meanwhile, fans of 'Prince Of Persia' could reportedly get their hands on the game's remake before the year ends.

The leak also revealed that Ubisoft plans to release a new 'Assassin's Creed' title in 2022. Other games releasing next year reportedly include 'The Crew 3,' a new 'Avatar' game, and 'Beyond Good and Evil 2.' The gaming studio is also working on a new IP, which has a protagonist named The Crull, and it is also arriving next year.

Aside from those, the leak mentioned that a 'Star Trek' game would tie in with a 'Star Trek 4' movie planned for 2023. Another new IP is coming to the gaming industry in 2023 as well, said the leak. Moreover, Ubisoft would release a new 'Star Wars' open-world game a couple of years from now, according to the leak.

'Far Cry 6' was originally announced to release in February 2021 for both current-generation and new-generation gaming consoles. However, Ubisoft moved its release date and only said that it could arrive after April 2021 but not later than March 2022.

Although the details included in the leak are exciting, they should be taken with a pinch of salt as they are not official.
