Microsoft PowerToys introduces a new OCR feature

Microsoft PowerToys, the well-known collection of utilities that allow you to expand the functionality of Windows, will soon be updated with an unprecedented integrated OCR function, called PowerOCR, with which you can read text from images to paste it later on any other screen. The new tool was developed by Joseph Finney, an app and utility programmer for Microsoft's operating system, who announced it on July 4th on the GitHub platform.

PowerOCR development has been a lot quick both thanks to the use of the TextGrab app code on which it is based, and to the help of other volunteer developers and even Microsoft employees. As you can see from the image below, the tool allows you to read the text by selecting the area from the image, this will then be immediately converted and automatically copied to the clipboard, to be immediately pasted in all text screens.

The latest and most important update to PowerToys features dates back to in February of this year, where several new features were added such as the ability to enable the crosshair for the mouse, to make it easier to track on the screen, and some new features regarding File Explorer, including support for previewing over 150 developer and 3D file formats (STL) and increased stability regarding the ARM64 version.
