Heartstopper will have a second and third season

If you're into the teen series genre, chances are you've been hit by Cyclone Heartstopper lately. The British production, based on the graphic novel of the same name by Alice Oseman, made its debut on Netflix on April 22nd and in just a month has established itself as a small, big cult. Thanks to its realistic but also very emotional story, the series has become a bit of the symbol of the way in which the stories of adolescent loves can be narrated in a decidedly inclusive and respectful way, not hiding behind the do-gooders but not even staging only dramas. and problems. Its only slightly sugary formula has therefore worked and it is no coincidence that the streaming platform has announced in recent days its willingness to return with new episodes.

Hearstopper, therefore, will have a second and a third season, it is now official. If the first eight episodes covered the stories told in the first two volumes of the Oseman saga, two more remain to be adapted, while a fifth and final one will be released in February 2023. Meanwhile, the same author has written her first novel, Solitaire, in which she focuses on Charlie's sister, one of her protagonists, and maybe even this material will be used to flesh out the plots. Among other things, it has also been confirmed that Oseman herself will return as screenwriter and executive producer of the serial transposition, thus ensuring that the spirit of the original comics is constantly preserved.

For those who still don't know her, the series focuses on the story of Charlie Spring (Joe Locke), a little boy full of insecurities who has just been outed in his school; But he tries to get over everything until he falls in love with his new desk mate, Nick Nelson (Kit Connor), a rugby player who seems quite the opposite of him, even if the spark between the two will be immediate. Around them, then, a variety of friends, confidants, but also bullies, who will help them navigate the ruthless but also very sweet game of growing on the border between identities and orientations. In some ways Heartstopper seems an unrealistic fairy tale, for others it is the hope that the society of our young people will be more and more similar to this one. And two more seasons to come perhaps will further help transform it.
