Netflix has released on its YouTube channel, the first official trailer of its new anime series Trese, based on the Filipino comic series by Budjette Tan and artist Kajo Baldisimo. The English voice cast was also revealed.

Trese: The plot, trailer and cast

The story of Trese follows Alexandra Trese, the latest of a long line of fighters who have maintained a balance between the supernatural and humanity. However, mysterious forces plan to upset this balance, leading Trese to battle multiple supernatural threats.

The English version's Trese cast stars Shay Mitchell (Pretty Little Liars) as Alexandra Trese while Liza Soberano is the Filipino interpreter. Joining Mitchell in the English-language voice cast are Darren Criss (Glee, Superman: Man of Tomorrow), Jon Jon Briones (Ratched), Nicole Scherzinger (Moana), Manny Jacinto (The Good Place), Lou Diamond Phillips (Longmire) and Dante Basco (Avatar: The Last Airbender).

This is the official trailer:

Executive producer Jay Oliva, when the casting of Mitchell and Soberano was announced, said:

“It is important to find someone who can interpret Alexandra Trese's character. My worries disappeared as soon as Shay Mitchell walked into the recording booth. Shay's Alexandra surpassed my expectations and delivers a performance of strength, determination and family duty that is at the heart of the character. If that wasn't enough, imagine my delight when we confirmed that Liza Soberano has joined the Filipino voice cast! I'm a huge fan of her and she fits the character so well. Having Liza playing Alexandra Trese for the series makes this project even more special for me and my team!

Trese will premiere on 11 June on Netflix.
