PNRR, Unrae denounces the lack of ad hoc measures for the automotive sector

PNRR

The PNRR, Nation Plan for Recovery and Resilience, for over 200 billion euros was sent by the Government to Brussels but there would seem to be no ad hoc measures for the automotive supply chain.

The general framework of the PNRR offers a unique opportunity to catch up on the country's delays in terms of reforms and revival of the economy and employment. We were surprised not to find adequate attention to the automotive sector. Which plays a major role in the mobility of people and goods. And which represents the production sector most committed to research and investments for the ecological transition: these are the words of UNRAE president Michele Crisci; words that denounce the contents of the plan presented by the Draghi government and already sent to the European Commission.

The absence of targeted measures for the automotive sector among the contents of the National Recovery and Resilience Plan meant that the representatives of the sector spread a press note, inevitably expressing disbelief at this lack.

The measures indicated in the plan can be shared overall, even if they can be improved: the strengthening of the railway network and the high-speed favor the abatement of harmful emissions. However, we believe that a strategic plan for the ecological transition risks achieving halved results if ad hoc measures for the automotive supply chain are left out, as happened, added President Crisci.

Not surprisingly, one of the major absentees of the PNRR is the remote fleet, with the consequent need to encourage replacement with new, more ecological vehicles. The same president of UNRAE also underlined the absence of a reform of the Highway Code, inevitably necessary to adapt rules considered obsolete to new forms of mobility and international regulations and of a tax reform in the sector, given the reduced tax deduction. tax for private individuals and the lack of tax relief for road haulage companies.

At this point, the Government will have to find suitable regulatory instruments for the automotive measures that have not found space in the PNRR. For this reason, we also hope for the establishment of an Automotive Table aimed at identifying the best solutions to strategically include the sector in the country's modernization programs, in favor of future generations, without having to continually resort to urgent and short-term measures. . Crisci concluded.
