Xbox and PlayStation celebrate Women's Day

On the occasion of 8 March, an anniversary that annually celebrates International Women's Day, two of the giants of the video industry wanted to send a special message to the community of fans.

For its part, Sony recalled the event with a message that celebrates the courage and determination that animate the women of PlayStation productions. As representative of the category, Selene was chosen for the occasion, the protagonist of Retunal, a sci-fi roguelike signed by Housemarque. Coming exclusively to PS5, the game will see the astronaut and researcher trapped in a time loop on a hostile alien planet. Although every attempt at her escape carries with it the risk of a new death, Selene is determined to achieve her goal to return to her own life.

To celebrate International Women's Day, Microsoft has instead organized multiple in-game initiatives. Among the latter we can mention the publication in Minecraft: Education Edition of two lessons dedicated to the struggle for the right to education for women and to vote for women and a special event in Age of Empires, dedicated to influential female figures in history. Added to this was the invitation to explore videogame productions with female protagonists: among the suggestions of the Xbox team they found space Control, Dishonored: The death of the Outsider, Never Alone, Beyond Eyes.
