Tokyo Game Show: Event will remain digital in 2021

Tokyo Game Show

Those in charge of the Tokyo Game Show announced today that the fair will take place almost exclusively digitally again this year. The event celebrates its 25th anniversary in 2021 and will be a purely digital event for the second time in a row. Because of the pandemic, no fans will be allowed on the premises. There is an exception for journalists and influencers from Japan.

There will be an event on site in Tokyo for invited guests. Here visitors have the opportunity to try out the latest games or to conduct interviews with the developers present. However, the organizers want fans to be able to take a virtual tour of the fair. Corresponding plans will be presented soon - but the tour will probably only take place for a fee. Exclusive demos of the Tokyo Game Show are to be offered free of charge parallel to the event in cooperation with several gaming stores.

The Tokyo Game Show will take place between September 30th and October 3rd, 2021. Just a few days ago, the organizers of Koelnmesse also revealed their plans for Gamescom 2021. Accordingly, the event should take place as a hybrid trade fair on the Internet and on site in Cologne. Here you want to let a strictly limited number of fans on the site so that they can take a look at the latest titles in the industry. If the pandemic does not allow a corresponding event in August, Gamescom will again only take place digitally.
