Crash Bandicoot 4 on PS5: An error prevents you from upgrading for free

Crash Bandicoot 4 on PS5

Starting today, Friday 12 March 2021, the next-gen version of Crash Bandicoot 4 It's About Time is available with a free update for those who own a physical or digital copy of the game on old consoles. However, it seems that something has gone wrong and many PS5 users are unable to get the upgrade on the PlayStation Store.

Hundreds of reports are in fact arriving on social media from PlayStation 4 owners who cannot in any way add the free update to your collection, since the game card returns an error and prevents the product redemption from being successful.

Here is the purchase error that appears when selecting the game next-gen version on Sony digital store:

"You cannot purchase this product for the following reasons:

You already own the following products that conflict with the product you are attempting to purchase : Crash Bandicoot 4 It's About Time - Tracker. "

There is currently no response from Sony to the many reports from users, who are sharing the error screen images on their profiles and are awaiting an official solution. In fact, it seems that there is no way to get around the problem, which persists even in the web version of the PS Store and on the official PlayStation app.

Waiting for a fix, which could arrive shortly, we remind you that on our pages you will find the review of the PS5 version of Crash Bandicoot 4 It's About Time.

Crash Bandicoot 4: It's About Time made its PS4, Xbox One and PC debut late last year.

The hard-as-nails platform game was well received by fans and critics, earning an 83% score over on Metacritic.

With the game proving popular, Activision recently announced plans to port the game to PS5, Xbox Series X and Nintendo Switch.

The Crash 4 ports have a March 12 release date on the aforementioned platforms. While there's no official launch time, UK fans should be able to download and play from midnight tonight.

Even better is the news that the PS5 and Xbox Series X upgrades are free if you own a digital or physical version of the game on PS4 and Xbox One.

First and foremost are the visual and performance upgrades over the original versions of the game.

As part of the PS5 and Xbox Series X upgrade, Crash Bandicoot 4 will run at a native 4K and 60 frames-per-second. The Xbox Series S version will feature 4K support.

The PS5 version has one or two exclusive upgrades not found on Xbox. This includes 3D Audio with a compatible headset, as well as Adaptive Trigger and haptic feedback.

'The DualSense wireless controller adds a whole new level of immersion to Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time, making this the most tactile Crash experience yet.

'Using the controller’s adaptive triggers, you’ll feel the force of Neo Cortex’s DNA-changing blaster, the grip of Tawna’s Hookshot, the power of Crash’s Jetboard, and really feel the suction when you vacuum with Dingodile.

'Experience dynamic and immersive play, whether you’re dodging pirates and TNT in the Salty Wharf or crunching on the snow in the Eleventh Dimension.'

Elsewhere, fans can expect speedier loading times, as well as a selection of retro skins available after the second level.

The Nintendo Switch version, on the other hand, lets users enjoy the game on a TV and in handheld mode.

'It’s About Time - for a brand-wumping new Crash Bandicoot game! Crash fourward into a time shattered adventure with your favourite marsupials,' reads the official game description.

'Neo Cortex and N. Tropy are back at it again and launching an all-out assault on not just this universe, but the entire multiverse! Crash and Coco are here to save the day by reuniting the four Quantum Masks and bending the rules of reality.

'New abilities? Check. More playable characters? Yep. Alternate dimensions? Obviously. Ridonkulous bosses? For sure. Same awesome sauce? You bet your sweet jorts. Wait, are they actually jorts? Not in this universe!'
