Tesla Full Self-Driving will soon have a huge price increase

Despite what the name might imply, Tesla's Full Self-Driving (FSD) functionality is not a fully autonomous system and therefore does not reach the well-known Level 5. For all intents and purposes, FSD is only a Level 2+ system, which combines advanced features such as automatic lane change, adaptive cruise control and automatic parking with some driver assistance systems. Despite this, Tesla has repeatedly raised prices from the initial $ 5,000 to the next $ 10,000 and then, not long ago, to the current $ 12,000. Now another hike is upon us and it could push the price up.

Last Sunday, Tesla CEO Elon Musk reported in a tweet that there will be changes to the Tesla price lists, in particular to the FSD system; more in detail "Following the release of FSD Beta 10.69.2, the price of FSD will rise to 15 thousand dollars in North America on September 5". A decidedly significant increase, especially if we consider that nowhere is its effective functioning guaranteed; in fact, several requirements are necessary, even unrelated to Tesla itself, for the system to activate and operate regularly. In addition, to access the program, the system must detect a high security score> 90 out of 100 over a seven-day monitoring period.

Musk did not specify which enhancements will be included in version 10.69.2, but a series of notes will likely be sent to owners once the software is installed. Although at the moment there are no rumors for Europe, it is not difficult to imagine that the Tesla list could change even in the Old Continent.

After wide release of FSD Beta 10.69.2, price of FSD will rise to $ 15k in North America on September 5th.

Current price will be honored for orders made before Sept 5th, but delivered later.
