Mercedes-Benz wants to reduce its CO2 by 50% by 2030

The entire automotive industry is moving towards zero CO2 emissions, first of all by starting to make electric cars capable of replacing endothermic ones, and then, a little more slowly, also improving the production processes of the cars themselves, so as to reduce the ecological footprint of the car throughout its life cycle, from production to disposal. Among the various companies committed to the goal of zero emissions there is obviously also Mercedes-Benz, which at the Environment, Social & Governance Conference held online a few days ago, announced its intention to reduce CO2 emissions from its fleet of cars by 50% by 2030.

The goal is ambitious, but a prestigious brand like Mercedes-Benz would not have publicly stated this if it had not already prepared an action plan; as anticipated, the intent of Mercedes is not only to reduce the CO2 emitted by the car during use, but there is the intention to reduce CO2 emissions in half during the entire life cycle, until the car is dismantled and recycled if possible. All this refers in particular to passenger cars.

“The desire for individual mobility continues to rise, our mission is to satisfy this desire in a sustainable way. Mercedes-Benz has made a very clear roadmap that will lead it to become 'carbon neutral'. By 2030 we want to halve CO2 emissions. We need the utmost commitment and collaboration between governments, companies and society itself to achieve the climate goals we have set for ourselves. "

By the end of the decade Mercedes-Benz will become a fully electric brand, at least in the areas of the world where it will be possible to operate in this way; in 2025 there is the goal of having at least 50% of electric or plug-in hybrid cars in the catalog, while at the moment the German brand can boast 6 electric models, which will soon become 9. Among these there is it is also Mercedes EQA, which we tested for you a few months ago.
