Renault could sell its shares in Nissan

Back in 2001, Renault acquired 43% of Nissan Motor Co., a move that allowed Nissan to save itself from the difficult economic situation that developed during the 1990s. A little over 20 years later, it seems that Renault has decided to let Nissan go, and the reason is very simple: to sell Nissan to finance the birth of the new brand that will develop and market electric cars.

Renault's decision is not that surprising; today practically all car manufacturers are investing very large sums to give life to the mobility revolution after more than a century of fossil fuels, and a reality like Renault could benefit a lot from the billions of euros it could collect from the sale of its shares in Nissan.

Nissan Leaf In the past months we told you about the alliance between Renault, Nissan and Mitsubishi for the creation of platforms and technologies dedicated to electric mobility: it should have been a very rich alliance, capable of putting 26 billions of dollars as an investment, but today this alliance seems destined to never see the light, with Renault instead aiming to make its way on its own.
