TrendMicro, a well-known antivirus brand, has published a proof of concept for a macOS vulnerability, in the form of an exploit code. This vulnerability has been defined as SUHelper Root Privilege Escalation and cataloged in the CVE database (CVE-2022-22639-8), also present in the US National Vulnerability Database. This vulnerability was already patched by Apple last March, in any case it had a score of 7.8 in the CVSS, or the classification system of common vulnerabilities, and it also affected iOS and iPadOS, as well as macOS. br>
The proof of concept of the exploit in question exploits this vulnerability to obtain elevated privileges on the target machine. The problem was found in suhelperd, a helper daemon process for macOS software updates.

The vulnerability was neutralized with the macOS Monterey 12.3 security update, so it is strongly recommended that those who have not done so, update their operating system as soon as possible. Once again, macOS’s aura of inviolability fades. Many users believe that the system is inherently waterproof, but this is not true. For this reason, we have prepared a guide to the best antivirus for Mac that we recommend that you consult as part of the protection of your machines.
