Dell G15 renews design and specs

Dell has updated its 15 ”display gaming notebook, the Dell G15, with a new design and improved specifications. For the moment the announcement concerns the Chinese territory, where the laptop is now available, but its arrival in the rest of the world is expected within this year.

The company has not published the list of internal components, but we know that Dell will offer three models, including with NVIDIA's newest GeForce RTX 30 series graphics cards. No specific details about the processor have been made available, while the 15.6 "display will have a refresh rate of up to 360 Hz, which should help in the most competitive esports, and ensures low blue light emission, thanks to its conforms to German TuV standards.

The laptop has a decidedly more aggressive and angular design and is available in four new colors: shadow dark gray, obsidian black, "ghost green with spots" and "ghost gray with spots" , which seem to suggest the presence of rather flashy chassis.

In addition to the revised design, the Dell G15 will also have an updated cooling system, which, according to the company, derives from its high-end gaming line, Alienware, as well such as the optional four-zone RGB keyboard, which uses AlienFX software. The photos accompanying the news show the presence of USB Type A ports, a retractable Ethernet, 3.5mm jack for headphones and an HDMI video output. Currently, no pricing has been announced and Dell has not announced whether the specifications arriving globally will be the same as proposed in China. Today we also talked to you about the alleged Alder Lake Mobile CPU lineup, which will equip the laptops coming out in a few months.

Dell’s new G15 is a speckled gaming laptop coming to China first

Dell has launched its new G15 gaming laptop, which will be available first in China before coming to other regions around the world. The laptop’s industrial design is all-new, though the most notable feature might be the paint job.

Yep, those are paint flecks you see in the photos. Dell says the new G15 uses “low-VOC waterborne paint for a durable and environmentally conscious design;” it’s available in colorways including Spector Green with Speckles, Phantom Grey with Speckles, Dark Shadow Grey, and Obsidian Black. Our advice: go with the speckles.

We don’t have full specs for the new G15 just yet, but it can be outfitted with Nvidia RTX 3000-series graphics and has “three performance options ranging up to 115W of TDP.” The display is a 15.6-inch panel with a refresh rate of up to 360Hz. Dell says the G15’s thermals have been improved thanks to a design based on Alienware technology, and there’s an optional 4-zone RGB keyboard that makes use of AlienFX software for customization.

The new G15 will go on sale in China today, and global availability is set to follow at some point in April. We’ve asked Dell for further details.
