A Chinese handheld console with Ryzen APU challenges Nintendo Switch
Apparently the Aya Neo Founder Edition handheld console is now bookable in China. The device will compete with Nintendo Switch and other rivals, including Smach Z and GPD Win Max.

Aya Neo Founder Edition has a similar design to the well-known console of the big N and measures 255x106x20 mm, while the weight is of 650g. The console features a transparent body and - a feature that is sure to make the eyes of many shine - RGB lighting.

Underneath the body we find an AMD Ryzen 5 4500U APU (codenamed Renoir), responsible for both processor and graphics workloads. In case you are not familiar with the 7nm APU, the Ryzen 5 4500U is a 15W hexa-core chip based on the Zen 2 microarchitecture. It lacks simultaneous multithreading (SMT), but boasts an impressive boost speed of up to 4GHz. The cooling system appears to employ two 8mm diameter copper heat pipes connected to a copper radiator with a small cooling fan.

As for the integrated GPU, the Ryzen 5 4500U has six Vega Compute Units (CU) running at up to 1,500MHz, which should be more than enough to push modern AAA titles to the resolution shown by the Aya Neo Founder Edition.

The console comes with 16GB of LPDDR4X memory -4266. Customers have the choice between a 512GB or 1TB NVMe SSD. The unit appears to be Western Digital's SN550 M.2 2280 SSD.

The portable gaming device features a 7 ”IPS touch display boasting a resolution of 1280 × 800 pixels with a high density of 215ppi. Aya Neo Founder Edition is based on Windows 10, so the button layout is similar to an Xbox controller, with the addition of a series of buttons for specific tasks. There is also a gyroscope and a gravity sensor.

The Aya Neo Founder Edition features a pair of stereo speakers, but there is also a standard 3.5mm audio jack for connecting headphones. As for connectivity, the device offers three USB-C ports and support for Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.0.
