The fastest Ferrari F40 “Competizione” ever on sale

Every Ferrari F40 is special, but only this one is the most powerful ever. This is a converted "Competition" version, for sale through the prestigious auction site RM Sotheby's. The F40 is easily one of the most important models that Ferrari has ever released; the mid-engined supercar features a boxy look designed by Pininfarina and was the fastest, most powerful and most expensive Prancing Horse at the time of its release in 1987. In fact, the F40, was the fastest production car in the world until the debut of the Lamborghini Diablo in 1990.

Although meant to be a road car, Ferrari wanted to see what it could do on the track and commissioned Michelotto Automobili for a series of racing specs. The vitaminized version soon became a success and several owners of the road version decided to convert their model giving life to the “Competizione” variant.

Earlier this year, the car was shipped to the famous Zanasi Group so that it could undergo a complete restoration; it is said, online, that the restoration cost just under 120 thousand euros. The F40 "Competition" is now available for purchase through RM Sotheby's. The auction house has not announced a price, but the sports car has regularly sold for over € 2 million in recent years and we suspect that such a model could reach much higher figures.
