Pokémon Shining Diamond and Shining Pearl: here is the launch trailer

Pokémon Shining Diamond and Shining Pearl

From today, Pokémon Shining Diamond and Pokémon Shining Pearl are finally available in stores exclusively for Nintendo Switch. For the occasion, Nintendo has published the launch trailer in Italian that you can admire in the player above.

The movie plays on the nostalgia factor, showing us first of all the game sequences taken from the original Diamond and Pearl for Nintendo DS released in 2006, and then catapulted us into the new version of Sinnoh. The trailer lasts less than a minute, but perfectly summarizes the salient features of the two remakes, showing exploration, fighting, Legendary Pokémon but also the Great Dungeons and competitions based on dance and music.

As previously mentioned , Pokémon Shining Diamond and Shining Pearl are available from today in stores and in digital version on the Nintendo Switch eShop.

While waiting for our review, we recommend that you read the special dedicated to the 10 best Pokémon in the region of Sinnoh. Before leaving for the adventure, we recommend that you read our guide dedicated to Chimchar, Piplup and Turtwig, the starters of Pokémon Diamond and Pokémon Pearl. If, on the other hand, you are still undecided about which of the two remakes to buy, take a look at our guide with the differences and the Pokémon exclusive to each version.

Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl: How to get a free Manaphy

You can't get the mythical Pokemon Manaphy any other way besides as an early purchase bonus.

The Pokemon Company

Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl launch for Nintendo Switch this Friday, and there's an extra bonus for early adopters. Everyone who picks up a physical or digital copy of either remake before Feb. 21, 2022, can receive a free egg that hatches into Manaphy -- a water-type mythical Pokemon that otherwise can't be obtained in the games. Here's how to claim it.

The Manaphy egg is being distributed via Mystery Gift, a function that unlocks approximately two hours into the adventure. Once you've unlocked it, follow these steps to download the egg:

  • Select Mystery Gift from the menu
  • Select Get via internet
  • Follow the prompt to connect online
  • Select the Manaphy egg from the list of gifts to download it
  • Get the CNET Culture newsletter

Explore movies, games, superheroes and more with CNET Culture. Delivered Tuesdays and Fridays.

After claiming the egg, you'll need to walk a certain number of steps in the game with it in your party in order for Manaphy to hatch. If you then leave Manaphy together with a Ditto at the Pokemon Nursery in Solaceon Town, it will produce an egg that hatches into Phione -- another rare Pokemon that is otherwise unobtainable in the games.

Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl launch for Nintendo Switch on Nov. 19. The pair are remakes of the original Pokemon Diamond and Pearl versions for the Nintendo DS, featuring updated visuals and other gameplay enhancements.

In addition to the Manaphy egg, everyone who purchases a copy before Feb. 21 can receive trainer outfits based on the ones from Pokemon Platinum. Players who have save data for other Pokemon games on their console can also claim a free Jirachi and Mew.

After Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl, a new Pokemon adventure titled Pokemon Legends: Arceus is coming to Nintendo Switch on Jan. 28. It, too, has an early purchase bonus. Everyone who picks up the game before May 9, 2022, can receive a Hisuian Growlithe kimono outfit for their player character.
