Tesla accused of misleading advertising and invasion of privacy

Tesla has to deal with a lawsuit in Germany filed by the local consumer association, Vzbv (Verbraucherzentrale Bundesverband). This lawsuit is based on a double accusation by the association against the American company. Tesla, in fact, has been accused of misleading statements related to the zero-emission mobility guaranteed by its models and of violating data protection regulations due to the Sentinel mode of its vehicles. Testa is already facing several problems in recent months.

The first accusation concerns Tesla's practice of selling environmental credits (completely legal) which allows other manufacturers to lower the average emissions of their fleet considering sales. Tesla claims, according to the consumer association, that its models help lower emissions for the entire auto industry. The company should clarify to consumers the operation of the environmental credit selling mechanism that guaranteed $ 1.6 billion in revenues to Tesla in 2020. Without this clarification, says Vzbv, Tesla's advertising linked to the reduction of CO2 emissions of the auto sector is deceptive.
