Kevin Bacon pretended to be an off-site student for Footloose

It was 1984 when Kevin Bacon took part in the famous film Footloose, alongside Lori Singer (Ariel Moore) in the role of an off-site student who landed in Bomont, Oklaoma. The film, directed by Herbert Ross and inspired by events that took place in the small rural community of Elmore City, saw the actor's character, Ren McCormack, move to a small Midwestern town full of "braggart" people. Already in the 1980s it was rumored that Kevin Bacon had pretended to be an off-site student to play Footloose (on Amazon you can find the blu-ray). The goal was to completely identify with the part assigned to him, but only now has the confirmation of this gesture arrived.

Kevin Bacon pretended to be an off-site student for Footloose, how?

Recently the actor revealed that he was petrified by some experience: in the past he wanted to pretend to be an off-site student for a day, meeting and interacting with the high school kids of the 80s. In short, he tried to play his role in real life and he felt like a fish out of water. Here you can read his words, reported by

I wanted to see with my own eyes what it would be like for a city boy to move to a culturally very different rural environment. The experience was so similar to that of the film that you cannot imagine. Some of the toughest guys would tell me 'Who are you, punk?'. They confronted me face to face in the bathroom and things like that. And then there was this big guy who had taken me under his wing, and he said: 'Everyone stand back. He is with me '. The girls, when I walked down the aisle, giggled. If my character had entered that school on the first day, he would have said: 'Come on, go for it!'. Instead it was the exact opposite.| ] adding zone: tag crm_srl-th_culturapop_d_mh2_1 slot id: th_culturapop_d_mh2 "); }
The only people who knew I was an actor were the principal and possibly the guidance counselor. The teachers didn't know, and so did the students.
