Ubisoft will set fire to one of its maps to raise awareness of climate change

Ubisoft is helping to raise awareness for climate change through events within Riders Republic and Skull and Bones. The initiative is linked to the United Nations Playing for the Planet. Formed in 2019, the group works with the gaming industry to find new ways to inspire young people to support the environment. Among the members we also find Bandai Namco, Microsoft, Niantic, Sega and Sony.

As for Riders Republic, Ubisoft will set fire to the game world without revealing the date. The purpose of this event will be to highlight how real fires can spread quickly and without much warning. The fires will take place at the edge of the game map and players will be equipped with a gas mask by default. Furthermore, part of the map will be totally inaccessible due to fires. Players will also be called upon to work together to help prevent the Sequoias from firing, by first identifying the most fragile and flammable areas of the forest and then protecting the trees by placing aluminum foil on the trunks, among other things. The event is described as "short and intense". While the developers won't reveal the exact date, the event is scheduled to take place between late 2022 and early 2023.| ); }

This will not be the only awareness event within Skull and Bones. Ubisoft, in fact, wants to take advantage of some agreements with NGOs related to the navy to raise awareness of the environment. This is certainly a commendable initiative on the part of the firm which, once again, proves to be attentive to social issues.
