Gamers are finally upgrading to Windows 11

New appointment with the results of the Steam Hardware Survey, this time relating to the month of June 2022. Apparently, even in the world of gamers, Windows 11 has begun to mesh, given that, for the first time, it exceeded 20% of the market share, reaching 21.23% (an increase of 1.64 % compared to May). However, Windows 10 currently still remains the dominant version, as it is installed on 71.26% of the computers of those who responded to the survey (a decrease of 2.63%).

Available since last October, Windows 11 has only been on the market for nine months and saw some issues at launch that fortunately were fixed, while Microsoft continues to work hard to make it the best Windows ever. Some of the most important criticisms concern the system requirements, unusually high compared to what the Redmond house has accustomed us over the years, among which the obligation to have a TPM 2.0 module on board stands out (also via software via the firmware motherboard).

Moving on to hardware, the now-historic NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 graphics card continues to remain the most popular among survey responders, but may be overtaken by the GeForce GTX 1650 in the coming months. On the processor front, Intel has caught up with AMD, reaching over 68% of the market share. It will be interesting to see how users behave after the launch of the next Intel Raptor Lake and AMD Ryzen 7000, scheduled for the end of the year.
