With the new Area C in Milan

A few days ago, on the 1st of October to be precise, the new bans envisaged for Milan Area B and Area C came into force, sparking many controversies. The limitations, introduced with the Sala junta, foresee considerable changes for those who do not have a compatible car available.

More in detail, the categories that will no longer have access are:

Euro 2 petrol; Euro 3 and 4 diesel with DPF as standard; Euro 0, 1, 2, 3 and 4 diesel with after-market FAP installed by December 2018 and with an upgrade class (reported on the registration certificate) for the particulate mass equal to at least Euro 4; Euro 5 diesel. Following the first wave of bans, a second measure went into effect yesterday targeting those who have already done their part by purchasing a hybrid car. More precisely, a limitation has been introduced linked to the amount of CO2 released into the air, using the parameter of 100 g / km CO2 emissions. Anyone who exceeds this threshold is destined to pay for access (5 euros; 2 euros for residents after 40 free admissions). Everything was regular except that the amendment provides for a series of not indifferent contradictions. Data in hand, Fiat 500 1.0 Hybrid, Panda 1.0 Hybrid, Ford Fiesta 1.0 Ecoboost Hybrid, Lancia Ypsilon 1.0 FireFly and Suzuki Ignis 1.2 Hybrid are destined to pay. Even the historic Toyota Prius, with its 109 g / km of CO2 will no longer be able to access. Some more luxurious SUVs, such as the Cayenne E-Hybrid and BMW X5 XDrive45e, fall under the new legislation.| ); }

But the clubs are ready for a new modern arena called 'The Cathedral'.

Both Milan and Inter approved plans for the new stadium at the end of 2021.

Initially the project only planned a partial demolition of the San Siro - but both clubs now accept no trace of the Stadio Meazza will be left, report Gazzetta dello Sport.

The demolition is due to take place between 2027-2028, once construction of the new stadium is complete.

The clubs have reportedly agreed to a complete bulldoze of the stadium in order to make the project 'greener' and more sustainable.

And they still hope to build The Cathedral on the same site as the San Siro, although that is dependent on public approval.

The new stadium is set to have a capacity of 65,000 - a reduction from San Siro's 80,000.

The Italian clubs opted for Populous' carbon neutral vision - the same company responsible for the construction of Wembley and the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Both clubs share the same vision for the stadium: To capture Milan's identity, and to 'facilitate the growth of the clubs and their global competitiveness.'

AC Milan's president Paolo Scaroni said: 'The new San Siro will be the most beautiful stadium in the world for its strong identity and recognisability.

'An attractive arena, accessible and sustainable for the city of Milan that will facilitate the growth of the clubs and their global competitiveness.'

Inter CEO Alessandro Antonello added: 'The New Stadium of Milan will be in an extra-contemporary green area that can be lived all year round.

'The new district for sport and leisure and its 50,000sqm park will make San Siro the go-to neighbourhood for sport and entertainment.”
