FIFA 23 bombarded with negative reviews on Steam and Metacritic

FIFA 23 is experiencing a bombardment of negative reviews on Steam and Metacritic, due to several reasons. It currently has an average rating of 2.5 on the well-known rating aggregator, while only 33% positive reviews in the Valve store.

As we mentioned, the reasons for negative reviews are different, especially on Metacritic. The main one seems to be linked to the fact that users do not perceive major improvements compared to FIFA 22. Indeed, they consider it a copy / paste of the previous edition with only a few superficial changes. Others say more generically that it does not offer an accurate representation of football, which is a bit surprising given that the FIFA series has followed the same philosophy for decades.

There are also those who are more specific, lashing out against the microtransactions and pay-to-win mechanics present in the game. Again we have been facing something normal for the franchise for years.

Some complaints on PC, expressed on Steam, are fortunately more detailed and speak of bugs in the anti-cheat system of the game, which is preventing many from playing, between continuous disconnections and complete blocks of the game. The hope is that Electronic Arts will fix the situation as soon as possible, even though it hasn't given much hope so far.
