Dune: Part II will hit theaters on November 3, 2023

There is great excitement among the releases of the great blockbusters of the next few years and to take advantage, at least for now, are the fans of Dune. In the past few hours, in fact, Disney has revolutionized the debuts of its Marvel cinecomics: Deadpool 3 has been moved from September to November 2024, Fantastic Four from November 2024 to February 2025 and Avengers: Secret Wars from November 2025 to May 2026; but above all, and even before that, the new Blade with Mahershala Ali has been postponed from November 3, 2023 to September 2024. And just to take advantage of this vacancy on November 3 next year will be Warner Bros., which will place the expected followed by Dune: Part II on that date, a few weeks earlier than the release initially scheduled for November 17, 2023.

Filming of the second chapter of the remake based on Frank Herbert's bestseller is currently underway. Europe, indeed they already started this summer first at the Brion Tomb in Altivole, in the province of Treviso, and then in Budapest. The complexity of such a film, in addition to the grandeur of the scenography and processing, is also that of fitting the commitments of the numerous cast of stars that animates it, starting with the protagonists Timothée Chalamet (currently also engaged in the promotion of his recent Bones and All ) and Zendaya. Rebecca Ferguson, Joshn Brolin, Stellan Skargård, Dave Bautista, Charlotte Rampling and Javier Bardem will also return in the new film. But there will also be many important new entries, such as Christopher Walken in the role of the galactic emperor Shaddam IV, Florence Pugh in those of his daughter Irulan, Austin Butler who will be the nephew of the perfidious Baron Harkonnen and finally Léa Seydoux, a young Bene Gesserit.

Dune: Part II will continue to follow the story of Paul Atreides (Chalamet) who, who remained at the head of his family after his father Leto (Oscar Isaac) was killed by the rival house of the Harkonnen, must survive the pitfalls of the desert planet of Arrakis; he will do it with the car of Chani (Zendaya) and her population of Fremen, who survive in the desert waiting for a Messiah to change the fate of Arrakis and the universe. With extraordinary powers of foresight, Paul will have to face enemies near and far while exploring his true nature. The first Dune, appreciated for the imposing and visionary aesthetics conferred on it by Villeneuve, was also a success at the box office, raising 400 million dollars (despite being released in October 2021, in the middle of the Covid era and simultaneously in streaming) and well you are Oscar.

Dune 2 lands earlier release date

Dune 2 will now hit cinemas two weeks earlier than originally planned.

The highly anticipated sci-fi sequel will be released on November 3, 2023, instead of November 17, 2023.

It marks the second time in a matter of months that the release date for Dune: Part Two has changed. The release was initially scheduled for October 20, 2023, before being pushed back by nearly a month.

The sequel to Dune will premiere exclusively in cinemas, and will not be released simultaneously on HBO Max like the first movie.

According to the synopsis, the film will explore 'the mythic journey of Paul Atreides as he unites with Chani and the Fremen while on a warpath of revenge against the conspirators who destroyed his family'.

Dune: Part Two will feature returning stars including Timothée Chalamet, Zendaya, Rebecca Ferguson, Stellan Skarsgård, Dave Bautista and Javier Bardem.

New characters joining the fray will include Emperor Shaddam IV (Christopher Walken), the ruler who sent the Atreides family to Dune, plus the emperor's daughter, Princess Irulan (Florence Pugh).

Léa Seydoux, Emily Watson, Shirley Henderson, Souheila Yacoub and Austin Butler will also join the cast in the sequel.

The first Dune movie ended up grossing more than $400 million at the global box office, and went on to win six Oscars.

Meanwhile, Bardem recently teased fans by sharing that the sequel won't just be a straightforward adaptation of the source material.

'I've read the new draft and I think they've done an amazing job of putting together the pieces in a way that is gonna surprise people,' he said.

'They won't be surprised, obviously, because they've read the book, but they'll be surprised by the way they put it together.'

Bardem added: 'I was very moved by it. It's a movie that is full, and you can feel the weight of it, and at the same time the spectacularity of it.'

Dune: Part 2 will be released on November 3, 2023 in the UK.
