TNTVillage convicted

TNTVillage, considered the most important Italian site for indexing torrent files, will be forced to remove all contents after the Court of Milan has condemned the site (after a four-year trial) accepting the request of the Italian Publishers Association (AIE) and the Federation for the Protection of the Audiovisual and Multimedia Content Industries (FAPAV).

The site (with one million users) publicly allowed to download about 365 thousand copyrighted contents , from movies to books to cartoons, anime and even TV shows. The first investigations against the site administrator had already begun in 2018 after some reports from the rights holders. In 2019, FAPAV and AIE began to appeal against TNTVillage, an appeal that was successful given that the site was closed in September 2019, with all links still actually active through the homepage.

«We welcome the decision of the Court of Milan with great satisfaction», commented the president of AIE, Ricardo Franco Levi. "This is a ruling that concerns not only the specific case of TNTVillage, but also some points of great interest, since it equates the files uploaded by the administrator and those uploaded by users of the platform". "AIE will continue to fight to combat all forms of piracy", Levi concluded, "and this sentence goes in the desired direction".

"A long judicial battle is concluded positively which represents an important shared success that goes to placing itself in a broader scenario that certifies how the "systematic" in the protection of works of genius can bring even more important results », declared the President of FAPAV, Federico Bagnoli Rossi. "Through this sentence it is reiterated how the illegal making available online of creative works represents a serious violation that involves a dangerous limitation to the exploitation of the rights connected to it, with a worrying economic damage not only for the cultural industry but for the Country system as a whole ».
