Intel Alder Lake behind a new Raspberry Pi rival

The world of Single Board Computers, popularized by the Raspberry Pi, continues to expand. Although most of the competing designs are equally based on ARM SoCs, sometimes some companies decide to take a different path in terms of architecture and achievable performance.

This is the case with Aaeon, who recently presented his new compact size device equipped with a 12th generation Intel Alder Lake processor. From the point of view of technical specifications, Aaeon GENE-ADP6 can be equipped with different CPUs, ranging from Celeron 7305E (5 cores, 5 threads and boost clock up to 4.2GHz) to the powerful Core i7-1270PE (12 cores , 16 threads, boost clock up to 4.5GHz), coupled to dual channel DDR5-4800 memory.

As for the power supply, the card accepts from 9 to 36 Volts, while the supported operating systems are Windows (there is also a TPM 2.0 chip for Windows 11) and Ubuntu 22.04. Aaeon GENE-ADP6 is on sale on the company's official website, but is currently out of stock. The listed price ($ 9,999) is probably just a placeholder and, in case you are interested, you can sign up to be notified when it becomes available.

In addition to SBCs based on x86 and ARM processors, I am in we also sell other models that have adopted the RISC-V open source architecture such as the VisionFive V1, of which you will find further details in our previous dedicated article.
