GPU-Z will limit leaks from NVIDIA video cards

One of the most used utilities by hardware enthusiasts is certainly GPU-Z, which, for years now, allows you to obtain all the specifications and values recorded by the various sensors of the video cards installed in your system. Consequently, it is a program widely used by so-called "leakers" to show the characteristics of GPUs still in pre-production and which are usually provided in advance to selected partners for testing.

Apparently, this he latest practice must have caught the attention of NVIDIA, which required GPU-Z developers to block the storage of engineering sample information and BIOS in the TechPowerUp database. However, this won't stop you from taking screenshots, but at least it should limit the leak in some way.

A new “DLSS” section has been added to the Advanced tab, which identifies all games installed with DLSS support and reports their version. GPU-Z no longer sends traffic to www.techpowerup.com and uses www.gpu-z.com exclusively, which makes it easier for IT administrators to block traffic from GPU-Z. All previous endpoints on techpowerup.com will soon be disabled; update the firewall rules accordingly. When an NVIDIA Engineering Sample GPU is installed, GPU-Z blocks all network activity (required by NVIDIA). Many improvements to Intel Arc detection, sensors, reports and technical specifications. Renamed the power sensor of Intel dedicated GPUs to "GPU Chip Power Draw" to clarify that it does not measure the power of the entire card, but only that of the GPU chip. Improvements to Chinese translation. Added detection of the Advantech supplier ID. Fixed fan speed monitoring on Intel DG1 with latest drivers. Fixed the launch year of the 12 GB RTX 3080.
