The first NVMe SSD with 10GB / s speeds is from Corsair

Corsair has recently unveiled the MP700, the first NVMe M.2 PCI-E Gen 5 SSD capable of achieving sequential read speeds of up to 10GB / s and sequential write speeds of up to 9.5GB / s. As specified by the company, this new model is ready for the new generation of AMD Ryzen 7000 CPUs, scheduled for official launch just after Gamescom 2022, which will make use of the brand new AM5 platform. The latter was also used by Phison a few weeks ago, to preview its controller that will allow other NVMe SSDs to reach the same speed as Corsair's SSD also in writing.

This obviously does not prevent to use the new MP700 also with Alder Lake systems, as well as the upcoming Raptor Lake. With this performance, Corsair's M.2 drive is in any case 40% faster than the previous MP600 Pro XT, outperforming it in both read and write. The advantage is obviously possible in large part due to support for the new PCI-E 5.0 standard, which with M.2 SSDs allows for peak speeds of up to 15.5GB / s.

In the presentation of its MP700, Corsair has not yet specified a release date. With the AM5 platform now around the corner, however, it is possible to expect this new model to launch around the same time as AMD's presentation, if not in the months to follow. There is also expectation for the first DDR5 RAM compatible with the proprietary EXPO overclocking technology, which G.Skill is already working on.
