AMD Noise Suppression even on older GPUs thanks to modified drivers

Just last week, through its official YouTube channel, AMD announced Noise Suppression: an alternative technology to Nvidia RTX Voice that will be included in the “Audio and Video” section of the Adrenalin drivers. As with the competitor's solution, artificial intelligence algorithms are used to eliminate background noise during calls, video conferences or other streaming sessions. Although the company had specified that the new technology is only compatible with RX 6000 series GPUs for laptops, the new modified "NimeZ" drivers designed for "pre-RDNA 2" video cards make this technology available also in older models. .

Support has been added in version 22.7.1, already available for download at this address. These custom drivers are available for AMD Terascale, GCN and Polaris-Vega-Navi GPUs, the latest version featuring Noise Suppression technology is available for now only for the latest group of GPUs. However, early users who tried the new feature on these video cards noticed some hum, so the drivers may not work as expected for all users.
