Today's novelty, again under the NIO brand, is a new 500 kW charging station: the news was released by the company itself on the occasion of yesterday's NIO Power Day (6 July), while the company talked about the new 800-volt electrical architecture it built to allow faster and faster recharges. In fact, today NIO's top-of-the-range model charges at a maximum power of 90kW, but in the future there will be much better performing batteries capable of accepting much more power.
This decision by NIO seems to go in stark contrast to battery replacement stations, but in reality it is an alternative that the company has decided to offer with western markets in mind, where the idea of the station of battery replacement is not at all known and indeed, could scare potential customers. By the end of the year, NIO will begin to distribute its 3rd generation stations, increasingly automated and rapid, but to date, diffusion on the European territory seems very difficult, considering that the space occupied by these stations is much more than the charging columns. and that the latter are already struggling to find adequate spaces.
