Windows 11 tells you which apps use microphone and webcam

We know that privacy is important to many users, so much so that they prefer to have a way, even mechanical, to make sure that the webcam lens (both on a notebook and on a fixed location) is darkened when the latter is not in use. Not being very careful, in fact, there is a risk that any malicious people will be able to hear, see and record what is happening in the room, perhaps in a meeting room where delicate and important issues such as industrial secrets are being discussed.

In order to maximize privacy control, Microsoft recently introduced a new feature in Windows 11, which allows you to see which applications have recently accessed sensitive location and contact information, as well as devices such as a camera or microphone. . To view the applications that have recently accessed sensitive information, just open the "Settings" screen, go to the "Privacy and Security" section and then choose the device you want to control. In "recent activities" you can see a list who have accessed the device most recently and, by clicking on a particular item, you can get more information.

This new option was unveiled last Thursday by David Weston, Microsoft's VP for Enterprise and OS Security, via a message posted on Twitter and is already available on the June Preview Build for Windows Insider Program members.
