Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun retro FPS launches in 2023

Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun is a new FPS set in the Warhammer universe, but it will look to take players back in time. Boltgun has been described as a retro FPS and it really is evocative of games such as the early Doom and Quake titles. Focus Entertainment has confirmed that Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun will be released on PC, PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and Switch at some point in 2023. The game is being developed by Auroch Digital.

“We are delighted to be working on this fast-paced indie FPS alongside the talented Auroch Digital studio, and our long standing partner Games Workshop,” announced Dessil Basmadjian, Chief Creative Officer at Focus Entertainment. “We are excited by Boltgun’s skillful combination of iconic 90s style, the Warhammer 40,000 universe, and thrilling gameplay that is sure to delight all kinds of players.”

“Auroch Digital is proud to be working with Games Workshop again and Focus Entertainment on Boltgun. As a team of massive Warhammer 40,000 fans, this game has been brewing since 2018 and we’re so excited we can FINALLY shout about it from the rooftops! We can’t wait for players to get their hands on it and to see their reactions” said Nina Adams, Operations Director at Auroch Digital.

Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun will place players in the role of a Space Marine who sets out into the universe to face off against Chaos Space Marines and daemons of Chaos. If this does not take your fancy there have been plenty other Warhammer reveals. These include Total War: Warhammer 3 Immortal Empires, Warhammer 40,000: Darktide’s new trailer, the release date of Warhammer 40,000: Shootas, Blood & Teef, the announcement of Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader, and a behind the scenes look at Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2’s development. That is quite the variety of games to sink your teeth into, especially if you are a massive Warhammer fan.
