This mod doubles the RAM of the Raspberry Pi

The current situation is quite problematic for those looking to buy a new Raspberry Pi for their own projects, as, as we told you a few months ago, due to supply chain headaches, many retailers around the world are having supply problems, leading to an increase in prices and a rather reduced availability, so much so that the few pieces that arrive are immediately sold.

Precisely for this reason, the maker Pi800 has well thought of finding a way to exploit more "old" Raspberry Pi by installing new RAM chips. Specifically, it updated a Raspberry Pi 3A + with a 1GB RAM chip salvaged from a failed Raspberry Pi 3B +. Thanks to this, the Raspberry Pi 3A + can now be used for otherwise inaccessible projects with the previous 512GB onboard by default.

Pi800 is certainly not new to this type of modification, since it had previously built a Raspberry Pi 400, factory equipped with 4GB of RAM, with 8GB of RAM, option available only on Raspberry Pi 4. In case you are interested in replicating the work (remembering that you will also need a "donor" Raspberry Pi to recover the memory chip), or just curious, you can take a look at the official thread on Reddit.
