Hyundai Ioniq 6 will be an elegant battery-powered touring car

The fate of Hyundai's Ioniq range has been marked for some time now and the Korean manufacturer has been working, for several months now, on a mysterious model known as the Ioniq 6. Unlike the Ioniq 5, which we tested a few months ago, the new electric solution will have an even more refined design, with sinuous and sensual lines.

Unfortunately, Hyundai hasn't shown much about it except a model that it only hints at a few details. Judging from the pictures, it looks like the bodywork is wind-sculpted and extremely aerodynamic; the feeling is that it could be a solution close to the Mercedes EQXX, one of the most efficient cars ever.

Ioniq 6 will arrive by the end of the year and the company has already stated that it will use the E- platform. GMP, the same one adopted by KIA EV6 and Hyundai Ioniq 5. Expected, therefore, a 73 kWh battery and two different propulsion schemes; the first, with a single engine, could deliver around 215 horsepower and 160 kW, the second, more powerful and “double”, could reach a peak of 308 horsepower and 230 kW. No indiscretion on autonomy, but considering the high level of aerodynamics work it is possible that the Ioniq 6 could exceed the current thresholds and even touch 500 km.

The price? A real mystery; Ioniq 5, in its basic variant, starts at 42 thousand euros. We believe that Ioniq 6, even considered the target it aims at, can position itself in a higher market segment.
