Epic Games provides developers with tools for crossplaying with Steam

When a new client or a new platform debuts on the market, many wonder if there will ever be crossplay to be able toa> play with other friends. Now, Epic Games has decided to take a step forward and make multiplayer games possible between the versions of the games on its Store and those on Steam.

In reality, there is crossplay for some time, but it is reserved for a few titles. Among these we obviously find Fortnite, but also Fall Guys. Now, Epic Games has decided to make the developer tools free, thus allowing anyone to get hold of the required packages. What does this all mean? Quite simply that from today everyone will be able to enable multiplayer games between the various versions of the titles, thanks to the availability of these new tools.

Thanks to Epic Online Services, crossplay now works perfectly between Steam and Epic Games. This will also allow you to find Valve client users, connect and play. However, there will not be only Steam: Epic Games is working to extend this functionality to other clients, as well as to make it compatible with macOS and Linux.
