Fortnite: the countdown to next season begins!

Fortnite: the countdown to next season begins!

Fortnite

As per tradition, Tuesday is a very important day for all Fortnite fans. This is a fundamental moment for the communication of Epic Games, but also a day full of news thanks to the various dedicated updates that are released. With this morning's patch, fans of Epic's battle royale can enjoy a number of new features, including a countdown for the game's next season.

With today's update we know when Chapter 3 Season 2 will come to an end. We won't have to wait too long, and to confirm this there is both the new countdown that appeared in the game and an apocalyptic device that should be activated during the end-of-season event. We knew that the new Fortnite season would start in the first days of June, but thanks to the recent news we now have yet another confirmation.

We're almost there then. According to the countdown that appeared in Fortnite, there are about 17 days left to conclude the current season in the best possible way, complete all the challenges and obtain the various rewards available within the various Battle Passes. What do you expect from the new end of season event?

Leak Reveals ‘Fortnite’ Chapter 3 Season 3 Will Have A Big Live Ending Event, With Clues

Epic

Fortnite does not always have giant, sprawling events that end each of its seasons anymore, as that only really happens about half the time lately, it seems. But it appears like yes, Fortnite Chapter 3, season 2 will indeed end with a big event, according to new datamines, though we only have the smallest of hints of what it’s going to be like.

We already should know approximately the “when” of this, given that season 2 will end on June 4, according to the in-game countdown of when the battle pass expires. That’s a Saturday, so the event could literally be that day, or perhaps the Friday night before.

As for what’s actually been revealed about what’s coming, we have some strings of text that indicate different pieces of it via leakers:

Of note in here, there are a lot of strings about missiles and tanks, implying we will see the “war” theme of this season carry on in some major way as an escalating battle between the two sides. But the most interesting section is one that mentions the moon, including a “moon montage” and “moon pod.”

So uh, we’re going to the moon? Maybe, to some extent. Given that we just got a brand new map in Chapter 3, I doubt it would be replaced with a moon map. But I do wonder if perhaps the moon could be a part of the map players can be transported to, similar to the battles that took place inside the mothership a few seasons back. And of course we have already been playing around with low gravity in Fortnite for years.

More space-based stuff echoes what we already think we know about next season of Fortnite, which will feature Star Wars cosmetics. Not that it is necessarily a fully Star Wars-based season like we have a Marvel season in the past, but we do know that at the very least, we are getting Obi-Wan and Darth Vader skins alongside the release of the Disney Plus show. And while we have some Star Wars skins from past crossovers, we are still missing essentially the “core crew” of the series, Luke, Han, Leia, Chewie and a bunch of supporting characters from the original trilogy. Most of the skins so far have been new trilogy (Finn, Rey, Kylo Ren) or Disney Plus (Mando, Boba Fett, Fennec Shand).

We don’t know any details past the involvement of missiles and the moon, so we’ll have to stay tuned for more info, along with an official date and time for the end of the season. Just block out that weekend to be safe, I suppose.
