
In an official communication released by BMW, the company confirmed that it is working to solve these problems via over-updated updates. the-air (OTA) by next July:
“The chips installed on cars in the first 4 months of the year will need a software update to become compatible with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, and for take advantage of the WiFi functions. "
In the meantime, however, customers are receiving the cars and are noticing everything that is missing, not least because BMW has not been able to identify the incomplete car batches; the only indication made known is an abbreviation, '6P1', shown within the car's production code - if there are these 3 characters in the car's production code, it will not be compatible with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.

In other cases, however, problems have been reported relating to the wireless charging for smartphones available in the passenger compartment: also for this technology they are specific components are needed which these days are becoming increasingly difficult to procure.
