BMW delivers cars without Android Auto or Apple CarPlay

There has been talk of the semiconductor crisis for months and today's news is a perfect example: due to the scarcity of chips available worldwide, some car manufacturers are forced to reduce the amount of technology integrated into their cars, as they are doing to example BMW, forced by the current situation to deliver cars that are not compatible with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Furthermore, the latest chips used by BMW are not compatible with WiFi technology, at least for now.

In an official communication released by BMW, the company confirmed that it is working to solve these problems via over-updated updates. the-air (OTA) by next July:

“The chips installed on cars in the first 4 months of the year will need a software update to become compatible with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, and for take advantage of the WiFi functions. "

In the meantime, however, customers are receiving the cars and are noticing everything that is missing, not least because BMW has not been able to identify the incomplete car batches; the only indication made known is an abbreviation, '6P1', shown within the car's production code - if there are these 3 characters in the car's production code, it will not be compatible with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.
