AMD Smart Access Storage will improve SSD performance

According to an article recently published by colleagues at VideoCardz, AMD is preparing to launch a new technology, called Smart Access Storage (SAS), which aims to improve the performance of SSDs in the system. The name somehow recalls Smart Access Memory (SAM), used to maximize graphics performance thanks to the PCI Express Resizable Bar functionality.

The DirectStorage APIs, which can be activated when you are using an SSD, both NVMe and even the slowest SATA III drives, allow you to transfer information directly to the GPU, thus bypassing the CPU, and, to further speed up operations, they also use new GPU decompression techniques, which support higher decompression ratios and bandwidths than CPUs.| ); }

The laptop should be officially presented next June on the occasion of Computex 2022, an event during which Lisa Su, CEO OF AMD, will also hold a keynote and therefore we will most likely know more about the future products of the Sunnyvale company.
