A mysterious file drives Outlook users on Mac crazy

Users who use Outlook via Safari on Mac are reporting a mysterious file called “TokenFactoryIframe“, downloaded from Safari every time they log into Microsoft's mail service. The unwanted download of a file, especially when it is without extension and not bootable as in this case, always arouses suspicion, even if it is not detected by an antivirus. So it is understandable that many people have reported, with a certain alarm, the situation by relying on the Reddit platform.

Many are the people who report the strange story: once Outlook is open on the browser, Safari immediately downloads the TokenFactoryIframe file. without extension, without requesting permission from the user. Furthermore, the download starts at every single access, so by repeating the login, the browser downloads the file again.

The bug report on Reddit
9to5mac, who reported the news, was unable to replicate the bug on their systems, however, in the face of countless reports found on Reddit, they shared a temporary solution for anyone wishing to continue using Safari to log in to the e-mail service of the Colossus of Redmond:

From the Safari menu, select Preferences Go to the Websites tab On the sidebar, select the Download option Look for the Outlook item and deny the authorization. This way, the browser should no longer download the file, but please note that doing so may cause difficulties in downloading the attachments.
