Yamaha Neo's, the comeback

Yamaha has finally announced the arrival on the Italian market of the new Yamaha Neo's electric scooter; designed to facilitate travel in city traffic, the new battery-powered Neo's is equivalent to a 50cc scooter, and therefore offers a maximum speed of 45 km / h.

The technical specifications, touch admit it, they are not exactly exciting: an electric city scooter does not need a lot of power, so the 2.5 kW electric motor that we find installed seems to be sufficient, while the 1 kW battery - which should ensure a autonomy of about 37 km - it seems to us slightly underpowered. Yamaha offers the possibility of installing a second battery, even if at the moment the price of this option has not been indicated, and in that case the autonomy has almost doubled, reaching 70km.

To simplify the charging phase, the battery is removable, but it can also be recharged directly on the scooter: the charger dedicated to the new Yamaha Neo's is compact and compatible with household power sockets, and takes about 8 hours to fully recharge the scooter.

Under the saddle - 795mm high from the ground - we find a compartment with a volume of 27 liters capable of accommodating a jet-type helmet, even with the second battery installed. The 13-inch wheels and the LCD screen for the instrumentation complete the equipment, further enhanced by the integration of the MyRide app, which allows you to keep an eye on technical information on the status of the vehicle and the battery.

The new Yamaha Neo's should arrive in dealerships next June, at the starting price of € 3,199; it will be interesting to understand how it will fare if it is compared with models of other established manufacturers, such as Piaggio One, or even competitors specialized exclusively in electric scooters.
