Xbox: Is The Initiative Really About To Shut Down? Here's what's going on

Xbox

If there is an Xbox Game Studios development team that has a strong aura of curiosity around it, it is certainly The Initiative. The studio, opened in 2018 in Santa Monica, unveiled its first project only a year ago, namely the reboot of Perfect Dark. We have only been able to see a teaser of the game and we still know too little, but it seems that lately the Xbox team is giving several concerns to fans of the Microsoft gaming brand.

According to what is emerging on the net, it seems that the Xbox Game Studios studio is suffering a very worrying haemorrhage of employees. In recent weeks we had already learned of the departure of the game director of Perfect Dark, but it seems that the director of the first project of The Initiative is not the only one to have "abandoned ship" over the past twelve months.

According to what we learn from LinkedIn, The Initiative now has fewer than 50 people, but currently the firm has already hired around 12 people in the past 12 months. Also, let's not forget that the team is developing Perfect Dark together with Crystal Dynamics. Ultimately, no, The Initiative is not about to close, but it is certain that the studio is undergoing a strong "turnover" of employees within the young Microsoft team.

Waiting for the first game of The Initiative, you can retrieve the other Xbox Games Studio exclusives by subscribing to Xbox Game Pass at this address.
